PRESS: Moscow govt complains about defects in local e-mail soft

MOSCOW, Oct 9 (PRIME) -- The Moscow city government cannot finish its transition to Russia-made e-mail software because of multiple defects in application MyOffice Mail, designed by New Cloud Technologies, but the company said most of flaws had already been fixed, business daily Kommersant reported on Tuesday.

The then-head of Moscow’s IT department Artyom Yermolayev, who was dismissed on September 20 because of moving to another job, sent a letter on September 5 to Digital Development Minister Konstantin Noskov and Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov, saying that MyOffice Mail had 33 defects that made it impossible to be used as an e-mail service for the capital city government.

The department wanted the ministry “as a regulator to influence the developer of the software.”

New Cloud Technologies General Director Dmitry Komissarov said that 25 out of 33 claimed points had been mended in the software version issued in 2017. It was later agreed that the remaining defects will be eliminated by April 2019 and upon a more detailed specification.

MyOffice Mail was put on the register of local software in 2016, when the IT department announced of its switching to the national service from Microsoft e-mail. Yermolayev said in May 2017 that the process did not go on smoothly.
